These 24" wide double steps open and close automatically with your door, so you never have to think about deploying them. The motor and control unit work together to extend and retract the steps smoothly, while the switch kit lets you lock them out when you’re parked. The amber incandescent light (C193 bulb) comes on when the steps extend, making the entry visible at night.
The powder coated steel construction and solid steel drive rods stand up to weather and repeated use. Stainless steel bushings and air-pressed rivets reinforce pivot points for long-term strength. Each step supports up to 300 lbs without flexing, and the non-slip tread with reflective strips gives steady footing in wet or low-light conditions.
If the steps hit an obstacle while extending, the motor automatically reverses to prevent damage. The ignition override retracts the steps when the engine starts, even if the override switch is on, so you won’t drive off with the steps out. These features make the setup safer for both the user and the step assembly.
With a bolt pattern of 20-1/2" wide x 12-7/8" deep and a mounting plate that’s 24-1/4" wide x 14-5/8" deep, this assembly drops into most standard 40 Series brackets. Extended height is 17-1/4" and folded height is 6-3/4". The kit includes everything needed for operation—motor, control unit, switch kit, and light—plus a 4-way plug and pigtail for connecting to your existing wiring harness.
The 12V motor and 10A control unit deliver consistent motion every time. Wiring is clearly defined—12 AWG green and 16 AWG purple leads—so setup is simple. Once connected, the steps move automatically with the door and stay put when you want them to, making entry and exit effortless wherever you stop.

I am 78 years old and removed the old step and installed the new one in about 4 hours. I have a 93 Safari that is in great shape and this makes it better.

When we finally got around to getting someone to install the steps, they were not the right ones to fit even though we were led to believe they were. All new holes had to be drilled & after they were installed we can hardly get up & down the top step. It is much too far from that step to the motor home. We had to devise a piece of wood to secure to the top step when we’re out so we don’t have to climb so far! Also the steps do not go in flush with the motor home as they should. It had been so long since they were purchased & we figured there was nothing we could do once installed but they are not right & may cause a problem when we go to sell the unit.
After injury and age, getting in and out of a leveled RV is one high step. Having these steps reliably and sturdily come out each and very time needed is a big deal. I installed this on an older RV and for folks that have older RV's please note; the micro-switches in the the door frame are opposite of what are needed for today's control logic. As a result, I added a "Reversing relay" to create the proper signal from the door to have the steps operate as designed.
I ordered electric steps in Feb and it was April 5th when I opened the box only to find that it was broken during shipping . I called that day and sent pics of the damage . etrailer said they would send replacement and it arrived today . I've never had such quick response. I want to thank you guys for handling this for me and I'll recommend yall to everyone that I can . Thanks again
These steps will be a perfect match to the original and will be installing them soon. Looking to to replacing the bent up, unrepairable and unsafe steps. Thank you ETRAILER for your expertise.
Bolt-on replacement. Some splicing required, mostly because whoever installed the last one added some unnecessary lights.
A challenge to lift into place, but I used a hydraulic auto jack to assist.
Only problem, the high current shutoff feature (when current increases, the control system shuts off the motor because increased current should mean the step reached the end of its travel) stops the steps prematurely. I'm hoping that as the steps wear in, this will stop happening. Until then, I need to provide a slight force upward when the steps retract to get them all the way up.

As a follow-up, no change. Step works but still stops prematurely.
Etrailer was easy to shop online, great price and fast shipping I ordered my kwikee step on Sunday and it was at my house on Tuesday. The installation was easy remove and replace using a small jack to hold the step in position. I did have an issue with the wire going to the motor, the retainer clip somehow was broken on arrival and would not hold the connector to the motor but a zip tie took care of that problem. The steps did not come with new magnetic switch so will have to order one separately the one on my rv was not working. Overall great shopping experience. Will shop here in the future.
